Ruth Rozner
October 15, 2014
Ruth Rozner was born January 16, 1922 in New York. She was the daughter of Charles and Jennie Kushner. She always shared wonderful memories of her growing up years in the Bronx. One of her fondest memories was going to the Bronx Zoo every Sunday with her father. She attended Hunter College where she graduated with a BS in Physical Education. She also attended Nursing School at the Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn. She graduated in 1945 as a registered nurse.
Ruth came to California in 1948 for a visit and never left. Instead, her parents moved to California to be with her. She began her nursing career in California at Cedars of Lebanon. She loved being a nurse and worked for over 40 years, with most of her career as a surgical nurse.
Ruth had a variety of interests. They included spending time with her family, baseball, playing BINGO, trips to Las Vegas, animals, and of course chocolate. Her chocolate chip cookies were always the hit of every family gathering. A special time in her life was being able to volunteer as a nurse in the 1984 Olympics.
Ruth is survived by her children Charles (Carol) Rozner, Marlene (Ed) Stirbys and her 4 grandchildren Gina, Joe and Leslie Rozner and Daniel Stirbys.
She was a wonderful, kind and giving woman who will be greatly missed.
