Remembering Rene- one of my mother, Gertrude Gordon's good friends. She was a smart, caring, truly good & wonderful person. People like Rene always stay in your heart-my mother who died in 2005 was very fond of her and they had many friends in common-not the least of which were in their long lasting book club-a group that was very central to my mother's life. Both of their constant intellectual pursuits were characteristic of this group. Both Rene and my mother had a social conscience that is one of the most important inheritance I could ever have received. My deepest condolences to Irene's family and friends. Although I did not know her, hearing stories of her life made me feel as though I had the chance to glimpse a piece of it. May her memory be for a blessing.
