I was very proud and happy to provide him with the dates when his grandparents arrived at Ellis Island, the ships they arrived on, and other information provided by the ships' manifests and Ellis Island records. I was able to reassure him that their last names had not been changed, and to discover the name of one of his great grandmothers. This was an enjoyable but small repayment for everything he did for me.
