Log InIt is Jewish custom to light a 24 hour Yahrzeit candle to observe the anniversary (Yahrzeit) of the death of a loved one, but how do you know exactly when to light the candle? Depending on family tradition, Yahrzeit dates may be observed on either the English (Gregorian) or Hebrew calendar. Because many people do not use or are not familiar with the Hebrew calendar, a Yahrzeit reminder email becomes an important electronic notification tool which ensures that you will never miss the Yahrzeit observance for your family members again.
When you register with our Digital Yahrzeit Reminder, each year you will receive an email notification as a gentle reminder of an upcoming Yahrzeit (when you register, you select whether you would like to be notified on the English or Hebrew date). The personalized email will feature a private link where you can “light” a Digital Yahrzeit candle on screen which can be easily viewed for a 24 hour period.
The Digital Yahrzeit web application was created by Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries to provide the public with a free online service to remind them of upcoming Yahrzeit dates. This service is FREE to all who register, whether you have loved ones buried at Mount Sinai or far away.
Once you register your Digital Yahrzeit™ candle, the personalized candle will always remain accessible online in your Account Page so that you can continue to light it in observance of future Yahrzeits, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover and Shavuot.
