I am so sorry that dear Spencer has passed away, and so young. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues. . He made a real difference in the world. I used to visit him at his gallery every time I travelled to Southern California in the early 2000’s. He was so warm and generous and so knowledgeable and passionate about the art of early 20th century California modernism. His scholarly advocacy did much to keep it alive and vibrant.
