Seymour Harry Waterman
July 18, 1918 – August 23, 2014. Seymour Harry Waterman, a long-time resident of Los Angeles, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday evening at the age of 96 after spending a happy afternoon surrounded by his family. Seymour was born in Chicago in 1918 and moved to Los Angeles when he was 10. He served in World War II as a 1st Lt. and navigator on a B-24 bomber for which he received the Purple Heart for his wounds and the Air Medal for bravery. He was shot down on his eighth mission and held as a POW in Germany. Upon his return home he met the love of his life, Evelyn Gehrman, and soon after they married. Seymour was a pioneer in the aviation parts business whose company is still in business after 50 years. He loved people and generously helped others to open their own companies in the industry.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and by his three children, Cathy, Nancy, and Eric, and his six grandchildren, who will miss him dearly as will the many others whose lives he touched. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 12:30 at Mt. Sinai, Hollywood Hills.
