Oh my goodness... Earlier tonight, I had sent a message to Rabbi Flom from the Congregation Beth Meier about a Yahrzeit for my mother Gloria Verrow, who passed away May 10, 2012. I mentioned tutoring Selma in Algebra in exchange for Hebrew lessons when we were teenagers. I am so sad to hear of her passing...

This last section of Wordworth's poem "She Was a Phantom of Delight" always reminded me of Selma And now I see with eye serene The very pulse of the machine; A Being breathing thoughtful breath, A Traveller between life and death; The reason firm, the temperate will, Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill; A perfect Woman, nobly planned, To warn, to comfort, and command; And yet a Spirit still, and bright With something of angelic light.

ADRIFT! A little boat adrift! And night is coming down! Will no one guide a little boat Unto the nearest town? So sailors say, on yesterday, Just as the dusk was brown, One little boat gave up its strife, And gurgled down and down. But angels say, on yesterday, Just as the dawn was red, One little boat o'erspent with gales Retrimmed its masts, redecked its sails Exultant, onward sped!. ----Emily Dickenson

We knew each other since we were 5 years old at Colfax elementary school. I had my Bar Mitzvah at Beth Meier Temple ........We had not seen each other for many years until last year. Very sad to hear this new. RIP sweet girl.
