Peter M. Winkelman passed away peacefully on October 16th, after a brief illness. Peter was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who lived a full and rich life.
For 60 years, Peter practiced law, emphasizing tax, estate planning and probate law. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley and obtained is JD and LLM in taxation from the University of Southern California. He taught numerous law courses at USC and Golden Gate University and published many articles on legal and tax issues.
Peter was active in the community, serving on the Executive Committee of the Cedars-Sinai Diabetes Tennis Tournament and was a past board member on the Sherman Oaks Little League, where he also coached. Peter and his late wife, Ruby, were members of Sinai Temple since 1964. Peter was a past member of Sinai’s Board of Directors, President of the Men’s Club, and loaned his legal expertise on numerous committees. He also served as President of the Pacific Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs.
Peter is survived by his three children and five grandchildren, In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mazon, Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles, Cedars-Sinai Medical Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
