Dearest neighbors: We are grieving with you at the loss of Mimi (I never knew her name was Mildred!) She will also be Mimi to us. When I think about how young our parents were when we all were neighbors on La Paz Drive, it makes me laugh. How the heck did the Singers do it with four kids, and the Wodinskys with 4 (and later 5) kids? And yet, our parents did the parenting thing pretty well, and they did it with style and grace and humor. Mimi was always so put-together, and so warm and loving. I remember with fondness running around with all the Singer kids and all the kids on the street. We were just one big gang...playing up and down the street until (as Cecile said) the streetlights came on. I can't imagine the loss our moms experienced - the Singers losing Sam in 1972 and then we lost our own dad in 1975. All those kids... I am grateful that Mel came into your lives and was able to share so many happy years together. I will continue to remember those happy years of our youth, and your mom, Mimi, was such a vibrant part of it all. May her memory be a blessing, and may the love she shared with you be a comfort. Much love, Tanya (for the Wodinsky clan)

Mimi welcomed me and my family into hers when my family moved to Claremont and Jeff and I became friends in the late 1960's. She quickly became a second mother to me. I wrote her letters while I was in the Navy. The Singer/Salz family are such an important part of my and my family's life for over 50 years. I can only imagine the loss, losing my mom 5 years ago. Again, Mimi and the family were there for me and mine. I'd like to think that mom and Mimi are sharing a glass of tea thinking we'll get through this and together we will move on to a place where the memories will bring smiles instead of tears. Love, friends, and family give us strength and the power to wake up and take each new day as it comes. My love and support for the family intensifies at times like this, but it is there always, forever. I miss you Mimi. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life. Mine is better because of it. Love, Mike, Don, and Teri Jack

Mimi was my dear friend of 42 years, and I feel truly fortunate to have know her. We met through a Crohn's support group in 1980. Almost immediately I was struck by what a genuine, unselfish, and kind woman she was. She knew the pain of losing a husband far to early in life, and thus when I lost my own at 35, she becarme my rock and my greatest support system. Many times Mimi was there for me like a loving sister. Mimi always made those she cared for feel important and cared about. She would never miss a birthday or a special celebration. It was genuine and meaningful. Despite my best efforts, words will never be enough to truly express what an incredibel soman Mimi was. And though she is gone, her memories will forever live on in our heart. We will always love you, Mimi.

Mel and family, Thinking of you at this time and remembering my association with Mimi in the late 1970s. She kept our office running smoothly and became a friend. I enjoyed keeping in touch with her over the years as we both moved on to new chapters of our lives. — Jeanette Mosey
