Marty graduated from Fairfax High School, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Cal State Los Angeles. Marty married the love of his life, Shelly, and they moved to Simi Valley in 1975, where they raised their two children, Marla and Steven. Marty was a very loving father and involved grandfather to Rachel, Connor, Corie, Autumn, and Charlotte. Marty was very active in Congregation B’nai Emet, singing in the choir and participating in the Men’s Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Smoking Aces Cigar Club where he had many friends. Marty was a very patient, kind, and gentle man, whose smile and laugh were contagious. Marty was always willing to help, never judgmental, and always quick to forgive. In addition to his parents, Marty was sadly preceeded in death by his wife, Shelly Richter, son, Steven Richter, and his brother and best friend Rik Richter. Marty is survived by his loving family including daughter, Marla (Joe) Lindsay, daughter-in-law, Julie Tepfer, grandchildren, Rachel, Connor, Corie, Autumn, and Charlotte, sister-in-law, Jan Richter, nephews, Michael, David, and Billy Richter, their families. Marty will also be remembered and missed by so many extended family, friends and neighbors. A service will be held at Mount Sinai on January 25, 2021 at 10AM. In light of health and safety concerns, the service is limited to immediate family, however there will be a Zoom link to the service with the information located on the Mount Sinai website on the Obituary Services Page.
