James Stewart Kolitz
August 15, 1938- January 30, 2021
James Kolitz, 82, known to many as Jim or Jimmy, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. An amazing and loving husband, father and grandfather, he was predeceased by his adoring wife of 58 years, Saralee. Jim is survived by daughters, Laurie Kolitz DaRe and Amy Kolitz Russo, sons-in-law, Jay DaRe and Brian Russo, grandchildren Andrew DaRe, Alex DaRe, Zoe Russo and Cole Russo, and a multitude of wonderful family and friends.
Jim was a gentle, kind, and ever patient soul, always seeing the glass half full. He had a passion for anything with a plug and a gift with technology, frequently being one of the first on the block to acquire the latest device. Jim spent the first part of his career in the music and entertainment business, working for The Wherehouse Records, amongst many other companies. Later in life, he discovered his second career as a Medicare insurance agent, passionately working right up to the time of his passing. Jim and Saralee had a great many close friends and they enjoyed a very active social life.
A service will be held at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills. In light of health and safety concerns, the service is limited to immediate family, however, there will be a Zoom link to the service, with the information to follow on the Mount Sinai website on the Obituary Services Page.
The family suggests that any donations in Jim’s memory be made to The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank or The American Heart Association.
