I did not find out that my doctor, dr. Lopez, no longer deliver babies until I was in my 7th month. The insurance was just too expensive and he was now just pushing aspirin and doing Wellness checks. I was pretty devastated and referred to a doctor in Encino. I found that doctor to be very cold, uncaring laughed at some of my questions as a first-time mother-to-be. I was voicing my concerns to my Lamaze instructor she told me that she had the most wonderful doctor in the world. The doctor she was referring to was dr. Ira Friedman. He took me as a new patient in my 8th month and was the kindest, most loving doctor I have ever had. He delivered all three of my sons. I loved sitting in his waiting room , looking at albums of all of the families Christmas and holiday cards that were put in together with consecutive years. It was so fun to watch the babies newborn pictures and then how they and their families grew. My family was included in these pictures I'll never forget about when I was complaining about my back pain and he was telling me I needed to do exercises constantly and that he had had that pain and he lifted up the back of his shirt and showed me the muscles in his back and said that was how he combated his pain. My boys are all in their 40s now and I think of dr. Friedman frequently. On a whim I decided to Google him to see if there was any news of him I was very sad to read that he had passed away. I will never forget his eyes and his sense of humor. The world has lost a wonderful man and a wonderful doctor. I know this is way after the fact but I just found out.

Thank you all for extending yourselves so warmly. I can "see" and "hear" my dad in your memories. He has left too large a hole in our hearts, but we have been richly blessed by having known him. I still hear him whistling through the halls at the hospital or in his office. My gratitude for you all and helping us move forward with Dr. Friedman in our hearts. Yours in Good Health, Dr. Nicole Friedman P.S. Renee, I would love to see that photo.

To the family of Dr. Friedman, I was very saddened to hear Dr. Friedman passed away. I want you to know he will always hold a special place in my heart. I was recommended too him by a friend who had a preemie at 26 weeks and to this day she is a healthy happy girl. He delivered my 3 boys safely into this world. He was there for each one of them so as I reflect on their births I will always remember him. Please know he made a huge impact on many. Taken to soon. Blessings to you and your family. P.S - I have a great picture of him with my 3 boys if you are interested in seeing it.

Hearing of Ira's death was a tragic day for me. He was one,of the finest doctors I've e er known. During the more than 40 years I knew him, he always impressed me with his wry sense of humor, his intelligence, his laid-back attitude, and his willingness to listen. The respect he showed to Anita and Shelly was greatly appreciated. During my last visit he mentioned his high blood pressure, and joked that the best way to stay healthy was to avoid doctors! I will miss him and his staff more than I can say.

Dr. Friedman was my favorite doctor. I was his patient for the last 14 years. He was kind, compassionate, and caring. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and it was obvious that he truly cared about his patients. His first question at every appointment was, "So how are the horses?" My family will miss him very much and I know we will never find another doctor like him. He was such a lovely man.

Ira and I are both horse lovers along with Judie and my husband Jim, Ira said, "Elma, we are born with the horse gene. That's just the way it is!" I"ll miss him and will always have fond memories of talking horses, dogs and laughing together.
