December 9, 1923 – September 16, 2016 Gerald “Jerry” Freeman died peacefully surrounded by loved ones and outstanding care givers after battling complications from hip surgery. He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada where he attended University of Toronto Medical School along with his brothers, Gordon and Paul. While living in Toronto he met and married Tamar, his wife of 67 years. They moved to Los Angeles in 1947 to begin his medical residency. He was a captain in the medical corp of the US Air Force and then became the first medical director for the Jewish Home for the Aged. He had a long and successful family medical practice in Boyle Heights and Beverly Hills where he was loved and respected by his patients and the medical community. He continued to make house calls and phone calls to long time patients well into his 80’s. In his later years of practice, he was the employee health physician at UCLA hospital. For decades, Jerry was active and a past president of Sinai Temple in West LA. He was a compassionate and caring physician, loving husband, wonderful and loving father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and beloved friend to many. Jerry is survived by his brother Gordon, 3 sons Wayne (Karen), Ken (Marti), Dan (Stacey), Dayle, 9 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many other family members.
