Evelyn "Evy" M. Scholder
December 22, 2013
Evy Scholder passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2013. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she brought joy and laughter to all those who came into her life circle. Evy loved music and art, and saw beauty in the world around her.
Born in New York City on August 12, 1936, she attended H.S. Music & Art, where she met the love of her life, Fred Scholder. Together they moved to California, where they raised two daughters, Stacy and Amy. Evy worked as an exercise and dance instructor in the 1970s and 80s, and then became a student of art in the last decades of her life.
She created a warm home for her family, and treasured time in the beautiful garden she cultivated. She never ceased to amaze friends and strangers alike with her sharp wit and candid observations. She greeted every life challenge with optimism and a smile.
Evy is survived by her adoring husband Fred, her daughters Stacy and Amy, and her granddaughter Emma, who gave her tremendous happiness.
There will be a celebration of Evy’s life at Mount Sinai on Sunday, December 22, at 11:30 am.
