Esther Belle Medall

Esther Belle Medall (93) December 10, 1919 – December 21, 2012
Esther Belle (Krader) Medall passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Friday December 21, 2012 at the Aloha Care Home in Valencia, California.
She was born December 10, 1919 in Iron River, Michigan to Elias and Mary Krader. The family soon moved to Chicago, Illinois where she attended school; in 1938 the family moved to Oakland, California. where she worked as a shop-girl. While living in Oakland, Esther won the Miss Eastmont contest and met her future husband Morris Medall. She married Morris in July 1941, they moved to Los Angeles where their three sons were born and lovingly raised; in the 1980s they moved to their retirement home in Murrieta, California; and in 2000 Esther moved to Valencia, California.
Esther was an excellent homemaker, wonderful cook, gracious hostess, and loving to all of her family and friends. She loved music, her dogs, garden and plants. She enjoyed her world-wide travels with her husband. She had fun bowling in a league. She played piano and organ and loved to sing. She would often sing to her family; “Cielito Lindo” and “I’ll Be Seeing You In Apple Blossom Time” were two of the many songs she liked to sing. She was a natural in the performance arts, but chose to be a wife and mother.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband Morris Medall, her parents Elias and Mary (Liberman) Krader, and her brothers Alfred and Harvey Krader.
Esther is survived by her three sons Irving Medall and wife Lee of Las Vegas, Nevada; Burton Medall and wife Rita of Valencia, California; Steven Medall and wife Karin of Monona, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren Antonette (Medall) Allen, John, Stacey, Justin, and Jacob Medall (through Irving), Michael and Nicholas Medall (through Steven); six great-grandchildren Caleb, Elijah, Joshua, and Jesse Allen, Cody and Cassadie Medall; three step-grandchildren Craig and Chris Fearnow, Patrick DeCarolis; seven step-great-grandchildren Alyssa Bonneau, Keith, Josh, Danielle, and Samatha Fearnow, Krystal and Stacey Lee DeCarolis; four step-great-great-grandchildren Arianna, Hanna, Aiden, and Sadee Jacobson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Monday January 7, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, California where she will be laid to rest. Donations may be made to any Alzheimer’s organization.
