Edward I. Gold
November 11, 1926 – September 15, 2014 Born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of Maurice and Lillian (Binen) Gold, Ed served in Japan as an Interpreter with Army Intelligence in the aftermath of WWII. He graduated (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Adelbert College of Case Western Reserve University, where he also studied law (Law Review, Order of The Coif). After 20 years as a solo practitioner, Ed became General Counsel for Shelter Resources Corp., and later, Assistant U.S. Trustee for the Justice Department’s bankruptcy program in Ohio. In 1991, when appointed Acting U.S. Trustee in California, Ed relocated to Pasadena. Always ready with wise words and witty commentary, Ed cherished his family and friends. He also loved professional sports, social gatherings, live theater, and WWII history. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Janice (Wolf); 3 daughters Cynthia, Carolyn (Robert Corning) and Claudia (Tom Jourden) and 2 step-daughters Jill (Don) Beckman and Marcy (O’Neill) Byrd; grandchildren Samantha, Eli and Lexi, and step-grandson Ben (Haejin Lee) Ostrander; brothers Lawrence and Ronald, of Cleveland, and dear aunt, Celia Light of West LA. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Sunday, October 26 at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
