September 24, 1926 – May 2, 2015 Edith Eder was born in East Los Angeles to Morris and Sarah Milman. Edie was married to the love of her life, Benjamin Eder, until his passing in 1971, caring for him at home his last five years. She subsequently married and divorced Jack Rutta. Edie graduated from Roosevelt High School and later resumed her education at Santa Monica College and Brandeis University. Hers was a lifelong quest for learning. Re-entering the work-place in her 40’s, Edie progressed from bookkeeper to comptroller of Beverly Hills Oil Company. She is survived by sons Harvey, Bob (Michele), and Alan Eder and grandsons Dylan, Moses, and Marley Eder. She was predeceased by her brother David and her eldest grandson, Benjamin Alan Eder. She traveled the world, was a long-time docent at the Los Angeles County museum of Art, took great joy in reading to youngsters at local libraries, and was an avid bridge player. Edie was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She adapted to the early loss of her husband with grace and determination, providing a model for her sons and an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Edie had natural interpersonal skills and exceptional organizational ability. She was optimistic, humorous, and tenacious. Her petite stature belied a terrific will.
