For David. When I thought of L.A. your name came forward first and foremost. I have such great memories of our 40 years of friendship. I could be away from L.A for years. It did not matter. We still exchanged every single week by Messenger or email. I knew I could always count on your support when I was in doubt. My family enjoyed you as much as I ever did and that made me so happy. Miles and Kelly were used to seeing you as soon as we landed at LAX. Carolin will never forget the first persons to open her Cedar Sinai door on May 24 1986 when she gave birth to Miles. David and Russell looking like school children both with flowers in your hands. Again on February 25, 1989 when Kelly was born. At 6AM on the floor of the hospital ward you were waiting for visiting hours to go and congratulate Carolin as soon as possible. We did not live in the same city, on the same continent but that did not in any way change the sense of togetherness I felt with you. You enjoyed wearing those suede pilot jackets that I had made for you in Morocco. Nothing pleased me more than seeing you elegant and well groomed in your spotless black Mercedes coupe. With you David I discovered all the great home cooking restaurants of L.A and part of my excitement of flying to the city of Angels was knowing I would be sharing those fabulous meals in your company. You and I shared a concern for the Holocaust. We were both children and grandchildren of victims and survivors. We knew the « Mishugas » and the humor associated with being neurotic jews! You knew how to tell jokes like nobody else. David Blake just sent me your « Gentile jokes ». It brought tears of laughter and sorrow to my eyes. Hell David! The world is strange without your comforting presence! My son Kelly represents us today. Carolin and I could not be there. We will remain in touch with you through our love for you and through the warmth of your brother Jack, the other Mirsky « Mensch » in our lives! Hey David! Thank you for being my friend! « Boruch Dayan Haemeth » Bruno
