I'll miss my Uncle Dan. He was generous with kind and wise counsel; for example, I recall his making a big point that the 60s and 70s are times when one can apply one's full potential to one's work, and I know that he was speaking from his own experience. I admire not only his success (by any conventional standards) and enjoyment of life (in particular his love of travel and of playing the piano and organ), but also his loving emphasis on family. When I was a kid, on Friday nights at my grandma's house, it was always a treat to see him and Aunt Ronnie, and (when I was really lucky) also my cousins; and it was comforting to see him at my dad's bedside when he passed in 2008. He was a good guy with a long and meaningful life.
