Benjamin (Ben) Kaplan was born in New York on March 6, 1938 to Harry and Hilda, Polish immigrants. The family, which included Ben’s identical twin Jerry, moved to Los Angeles in the early 1940s where Harry found work as a tailor. Ben started dating the love of his life, Janet Vosen in 1957, and they married in 1959. After Fairfax High School he went on to UCLA and earned an accounting degree. Ben eventually established his own accounting firm, where his dedication to his clients allowed him to grow a very successful practice. Many of his clients turned into lifelong friends and he was still going into the office several days a week into his eighties. He is survived by Janet, his wife of almost 62 years, as well as by daughters Ellen Di Paolo (Rob) and Lisa Lorkis (Scott), and his grandchildren Nick (Lauren), Matt (Caryn), Halle, Mackie, and Alexa, who will miss him terribly. Ben is also survived by his sister-in-law Sue Kaplan and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his parents, brother Jerry, and nephew Joe Kaplan.
