Anita “Nina” Charlotte (née Burk) Levin, , formerly of New York City, passed away on January 1, 2020.

Knowing Nina, she would be embarrassed by, and annoyed with, an obituary that focused only on her and provided details of her life. Instead, since she loved hearing from her children, Nina would more likely tolerate an obituary (although with nostrils flaring…) where they talk about how she continues to live in their lives. Starting with the eldest, Judith, “Because of Mom, I carry her “NYC” gene and her experience of happiness with all that the city offers, including riding the carousel in Central Park, visiting the Hayden Planetarium, American Museum of Natural History, the MET and of course, Broadway musicals. I appreciate quality and do my best to be generous in life and spirit. And I certainly admit to staying up all night reading!” Next, middle daughter Amy notes, “Because of Mom, I enjoy cooking, wearing jewelry, lighting Shabbos candles, and maintaining lasting friendships.” Her favorite son, Andrew, adds, “Because of Mom, I value family, have a playful, childlike side, and encourage my own son to pursue his interests and dreams.” And finally the baby, Laurie, reveals, “Because of Mom, I love to read, go to the library, be with children, teach, eat whitefish, and take care of my teeth.” Nina was preceded in death by her husband Stan and is survived by her children Judith, Amy, Andrew, and Laurie; grandson Zander; and sister Gerry. She will be dearly missed.

Services were held at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CAon January 6, 2020 at 11:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Nina’s name to Bonita Unified School District, 115 W. Allen Ave., San Dimas, CA  91773, Attn: Gladstone Kindergarten.
