Gardener/Interment Worker – Hollywood Hills
Title: Gardener/Interment Worker – Hollywood Hills
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Superintendent of Grounds; Maintenance Foreperson
Jobs Supervised: None
Job Purpose: Enhances Memorial Park Property ensuring all landscape within park is clean and maintained.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains Grounds by
mowing grass; blowing leaves and debris; cleaning benches, railings, lot markers; picking up dead flowers; trim tablets.
- Beautifies Grounds by
pruning and trimming shrubs and trees; planting and seeding; installing gardens;
applying fertilizers and pesticides; hand-watering grass and plants as needed.
- Provides Burial Site Assistance by
checking burial site; receiving the case; lowering the vault; removing the lowering device;
assisting with disinterment’s; executing adjustments; setting up and removing tents.
- Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge by
attending educational workshops.
- Contributes to Team Effort by
accomplishing related results as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
Experience: Minimum five years horticulture and landscape experience
Knowledge:
– Plants, flowers
-Fertilizers and pesticides
– Mt. Sinai rules and regulations; park layout
– Safety laws and regulations
-Full knowledge of department’s ‘Experience Rules’ document
Skills & Abilities:
– Able to safely operate mowers (including professional), string trimmer blower, sweeper, hedge trimmer, skip loader, aerator, tractors
– Able to demonstrate superior pruning skills
– Able to be flexible and a team player
– Able to interact with staff and park visitors
Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, crawling, lifting 75lbs. on a regular basis, kneeling, climbing, pushing
Exposures: Muscular strain, noise, airborne particles, weather, temperature. moving parts, vibration, pesticides
