May 2, 1919 – October 13, 2016 “Mitzi” passed away Wednesday evening peacefully at her home. She was 97 years young! This is the same home she lived in for 65 years. Born and raised in New York, loving oldest daughter of Morton and Bertha Bernstein, she moved to the West Coast to raise her family and live out her years. She is survived by her younger sister Janet Gross, and her two sons, Douglas and Dennis. Mitzi had one grandchild, Mira Shields, and if she had lived another few months, would have been a great-grandmother! Janet’s daughter Laura Sue has two daughters Erika and Julia Weiss. We all take this moment to wish Mitzi health and prosperity on the other side. (Mom, if possible, send us some afterlife notes!) The last few years of her life were a struggle, but with the help of Sylvia, Beatrice and Evelyn, (Angels, taking the form of Caregivers!) and everyone else around her, she was comfortable to the end. Loved and adored wherever they went, the two sisters were inseparable for most of their lives. Kind, gracious, generous, and loving, Mitzi will be missed by all who knew her!
