Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries Hosts
FreeKever Avot Community Memorial Services on
September 20th at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM

Los Angeles, CA- (September 15, 2015) – On Sunday, September 20th, Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries will host its 61st annual Kever Avot Memorial services at 10:00 AM at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills and at 1:00 PM at Mount Sinai Simi Valley.

Kever Avot, which in Hebrew literally means “graves of the fathers”, is an ancient custom dating back to the beginning of Jewish history. Each year, between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it is a Jewish tradition to visit the cemetery to pay homage to parents and loved ones and to gain strength through communal prayer.

“In this, our 61st year of observing Kever Avot, we look forward to bringing our community together to pray together as one,” said Len Lawrence, General Manager of Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries. “We know that the sanctity of the Jewish High Holy Days often evokes a wealth of emotions and memories which is why we invite everyone, including those whose loved ones are buried elsewhere or far away, to join our community as we pray together, support one another and honor the memory of those who have passed.

Both free Kever Avot services will be led by Rabbi Nicole Guzik and Cantor Marcus Feldman from Sinai Temple. In Hollywood Hills, they will be joined by the Sinai Temple Choir, under the direction of Aryell Cohen, and in Simi Valley, they will be joined by the UJA Choir, under the direction of Dr. Noreen Green to sing music and prayers in Hebrew and English which evoke tradition and inspire reflection and meditation.

Both Kever Avot services will begin with the sound of the shofar (the traditional Ram’s horn) and end with the recitation of the Kaddish (the traditional Jewish prayer recited by mourners.) All who remember loved ones are encouraged to attend a service to show our strength as a community.

Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries Redesigns Website to Communicate More Effectively with their Senior Target Audience

LOS ANGELES, California, March 17, 2015 – Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, the largest Jewish mortuary/cemetery organization in California, is pleased to announce the launch of its redesigned website at www.mountsinaiparks.org. The revamped site uses Mount Sinai’s new design elements to communicate the latest content about the organization’s two cemetery properties as well as important information regarding Jewish funeral traditions and customs.

Since 1954, Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries has preserved its commitment to offering exemplary service.  This dedication to service now encompasses the online experience by offering easier site navigation, downloadable content, virtual park tours and expanded information about Mount Sinai which families can explore from the privacy of their own homes.

“As more of our clients rely on the Internet as their primary source of information, the timing was right for us revisit our online presence and content” said Len Lawrence, General Manager of Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries.  “In order to communicate effectively with our target audience who is becoming more familiar with the idea of finding information online, the site had to offer simple navigation along with informative content and engaging pictures to enhance the user experience.”

Mount Sinai’s new website platform was created in collaboration with Broekman Communications, a Los Angeles-based branding/digital agency which specializes in Jewish community/non-profit marketing, and FuneralPress, a Boston-based funeral industry website and plugin development firm.

“By integrating the custom FuneralPress plug-in, Mount Sinai now has complete control over the backend functionality of its obituary pages to seamlessly manage the process in-house without relying on costly platform developers or external partners,” said Dave Lapierre, founder of FuneralPress. “We enjoyed working with the Mount Sinai team to improve the site visitor experience and incorporate new Jewish content on its obituary pages.”
